Our club
CB Captains FC fields a men's team and a women's team out of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Same badge, same ground, same standards.
The club is young. It is being built by people who live here, in a city that has never needed to borrow anybody else's identity.
Council Bluffs
The city takes its name from the bluffs above the Missouri. It has been a crossing point for as long as anyone has been keeping records: wagon road, ferry landing, rail yard, interstate, footbridge.
In 1863 Abraham Lincoln fixed the eastern terminus of the first transcontinental railroad here. The Golden Spike monument on South 21st Street still marks it.
Before the rail came the boats. Joseph LaBarge, born 1815, was one of the best-known steamboat captains working the Missouri in the years when this was a landing rather than a city. He spent a working life reading a river that moved every season, and he is the reason our mascot has a name.
Omaha is across the water. Council Bluffs is its own place. This club plays on the Iowa side and says so.

Captain Joe
LaBarge
The anchor is the club. It is on the shirt, on the mark, and on everything the club puts its name to. Captain Joe is the anchor with a face on it.
He is named for Joseph LaBarge, the Missouri River steamboat captain, because that was always the job on this stretch of water: read the channel, keep the crew together, get everybody home. It is a fair description of what a club is supposed to do for a city.
You will find him on matchdays, at community appearances and running the kids' section.
